AC -6!

My copy of Fight On! arrived in the mail yesterday, but I wasn't able to pick it up until today. There have already been a number of good reviews, so I won't bother with another. Suffice to say, I ain't disappointed.

I will say this about Lulu, however: they certainly treated the magazine with respect. Because I am both cheap and poor, I requested the least expensive shipping option. Well, you wouldn't know it from the delivery. The box Fight On! came in was one of those sturdy, fancy cardboard boxes with a lift-out top, secured by a pair of plastic bands. Inside the box was a shrink-wrapped package, securing the magazine firmly to a board of stiff cardboard, to further prevent the magazine from being bent. The magazine itself was secured in a foam sleeve.

I'm still agog at all this protection. I mean, I was expecting it to arrive in an envelope, and if I was lucky, it would be one of those with the bubble-wrap lining. My magazine arrived in style and comfort, looking like it had just come off the presses.

I too was impressed with Lulu's shipping. Even with the lowly media mail option my softcover Encounter Critical was shipped quickly and very securely. They do a fine job.

Yeah, I may have come off a bit hard on Lulu. But it was nothing personal. My copy arrived pristine and I was as impressed as everyone else at the care they showed.

I guess i'm just spoiled by the instant gratification that RPGNow and the other PDF game vendors offer. But for the record Lulu did right by me.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still prefer a PDF. For what I would have saved in shipping, I could have bought a second PDF and had twice the fun.

Still, when I need to go POD, Lulu will absolutely be a contender.
