The entirety of AD&D 1st was good for my vocabulary. At 10 years old, I didn't know ebeans about girls, cars, or life, but I knew what a "portcullis" and a "trebuchet" were. Of course, it would take a few more years and the UA before I could really figure out what a "glaive-guisarme" was.
