PvP Plays D&D Without BAB

Can I buy a vowel, please?

Seriously, D&D without combat?!? And it was even 4e, I think. And they had fun! Poor Scott has taken his first steps down to the Dark Side. ;)

I have to say, when DM ran the 3 brides LoTFP for two of us players we had 0 combat and very little dice rolling - one of the best games I've ever played.

You know, the similarities between that post and Wesely’s description of the first Braunstien are perhaps an argument that D&D—as played by some—has indeed reverted to merely a wargame.

Dungeonmum: In my experience, that sort of play works really well with small groups, and beats the pants of dice-full play in solo campaigns.

Robert Fisher: I'd have to say that a lot of the development of D&D at WotC has been attempts to turn an exploration-based game into a skirmish-combat-based game. Playing Wilderness Survival at GenCon only solidified my certainty that most folks looking back at what D&D actually was are getting distracted by Chainmail and overestimating just how central wargaming was to the development of D&D.
